Prestigious recognition for MM Design
The “Leonardo da Vince” Science and Technique Museum right in the heart of Milan and one of Europe’s most important technical-scientific museums, was the location for the event. It moreover conserves in its halls, the machine of Leonardo who can be defined as one of history’s first designers.
Before a hall brimming with celebrities, journalists, designers and business enterprises, the international and single-theme edition of the Compasso d´Oro prize was awarded this year to Sports.
The team of creative spirits took great pride in the fact that the Compasso D’Oro Honorable Mention was awarded to MM Design for the Strapless Pole design achieved for Scott International, an innovative ski pole which revolutionizes its pole handle features, eliminating the classic string and inserting in its place two wings in material and resemblance, that allow the hand to let go in case of falls. The string, in fact, is in most cases responsible for the breaking of the thumb ligaments, and for those who practice off-track cross country skiing, will not be detached when surprised by an avalanche. The handle was studied to anatomically fit the best hand grip possible, and made up of a dual-thermoplastic component, to obtain utmost comfort when skiing.
It is prestigious recognition for the effort of a team that conceives design as a factor for the improvement of performance and the life of those who use these items. The team has dedicated their studies to Hervé Maneint, Director of the Scott Neve division, who tragically passed away. He had played an important role in this project due to his great experience and competence.
