MM Design wins the GoodDesign Award for Bertazzoni
The Good Design Award is one of the most prestigious design awards in the world, its history dates back to the 1950s from an idea by Eero Saarinen and Charles and Ray Eames. Today, the award is aimed at selecting the best contemporary design projects from the world of products and graphics. Forty seven countries from all over the world participated in the latest Good Design exhibition, presenting projects divided into the various product categories.
Among the products presented this year was the new Heritage series electric oven designed by MM Design studio for Bertazzoni, which in fact won the award. The line recalls the products manufactured by the company since it was founded at the beginning of the last century, historical examples of which are housed in its company museum, including wood-burning cookers made of cast iron. The project brief was, in fact, specifically directed at recalling Bertazzoni's history and tradition as an Italian company known around the world for its kitchen appliances, making use of the styles and features of the earliest products but being able to render them in a contemporary manner. Experimentation with style, choice of materials, possible surface finishes and features of the various accessories, such as the design of the gas control knobs, engaged the creative minds at MM Design in a painstaking and attentive work that never became trivial. The result is summed up in two products of different sizes, 36 and 48 inches, aimed mainly at the American market. It is thus with great satisfaction that we receive such an important award, especially for a market as specific and competitive as that of America.
Once again, good design is an image and marketing vehicle of enormous potential for companies who also wish to establish themselves in terms of sales of their products.
