WEF 2023: A Priority to Invest in Cooperation
The 53rd edition of the World Economic Forum (WEF) kicked off on January 16, 2023 in Davos, a town in the Swiss Alps. The meeting, held annually since 1971, included participation from more than 2,700 leading political and economic representatives from 130 countries. The theme was: “Cooperation in a Fragmented World.”
More than 450 panels were held in which issues related to the environment, health, and safety were covered. The aim of these discussions was to promote constructive and forward-looking dialogues worldwide in order to increase public-private cooperation while also addressing and resolving the most pressing issues, such as ecosystem degradation and climate change. The WEF 2023 also turned the spotlight on Ukraine and Iran, underlining the priority to intervene in geopolitical tensions to avoid conflicts of various kinds.
On the day of the inauguration, during the Crystal Awards Ceremony, personalities from the world of culture were awarded. These people have distinguished themselves in activities for the defense of the environment, the fight against climate change, mental health, and education. The event provided a glimmer of optimism by re-launching a global, collaborative, and inclusive approach between various countries to encourage new forms of development.
