Mobile World Convention 2022 in Barcelona - The Gateway to the Future

The MWC returned with real life attendance in its usual Barcelona location. Although this edition was quieter in tone, it represented a sign of positivity after the pandemic. The MWC has often been the premier event for announcing new smartphones and has also become an event dedicated to the world of innovation and IT in all its forms, thanks to an even greater connection between mobile telephony and related sectors such as IoT, Cybersecurity and Automotive.

Great focus and attention was on 5G, the super-fast network dominating the world of telecommunications: from smartphones and connected devices to smart cities, cars and cloud systems.

The protagonist of the event was Metaverse, the great challenge of the future. The hi-tech industry has its eyes on Web 3.0, which is capable of connecting people, places and things. It is a virtual reality shared via the internet, where one is represented in three dimensions through one's avatar.

In the wake of the current geopolitical climate and the great suffering caused by the pandemic, companies are aiming at greater sobriety, focusing above all on social issues, sustainability, equality of rights in the digital field, and on how technology can help address these issues.

This very recent constitutional reform undoubtedly represents an important turning point and a strong signal of responsibility on the part of the State and of every citizen. The hope is that the new constitutional principle will truly inspire new laws. Furthermore, the responsibility of design will be to design by paying great attention to resources and materials precisely in the logic of the new Constitution.
