Laparoscope clamps
Often an innovative design starts from a material, as was the case of the new laparoscope clamps developed in carbon fiber: a material that is highly resistant, light and easy-to-handle.
Often an innovative design starts from a material, as was the case of the new laparoscope clamps developed in carbon fiber: a material that is highly resistant, light and easy-to-handle.
The design was created through the partnership between Edlo and MM Design studio, which produced this absolute novelty, created to resolve, above all, the problem of ergonomics during long surgical procedures. The new clamps were designed to be easily grasped due to their rounded edges.
By studying ergonomics, designers were able to enhance performance and user-friendliness of the handle by use of a rotating thumb. This important aspect allows both right-handed and left-handed surgeons to use the device and accompanies the movement of the thumb with minimum rotations, improving grasp. Also, the rapid hooking and unhooking system of the tube was studied to improve operations used for sterilization.
